Beginning Scoring for Screen

The Beginners’ Class offers an essential foundation for aspiring film and television composers. Students will learn how to promote themselves online, build a strong internet presence, and create an effective demo reel to showcase their work.

Through in-depth analysis of existing scores, they’ll explore what makes music succeed—or fail, on screen. The course covers critical industry skills, including spotting sessions, working with temp scores, and enhancing a scene’s emotional impact through music. Finally, students will gain a practical understanding of orchestration, whether arranging themselves or collaborating with professional orchestrators.
